John and Donald Tardy start Executioner in their Brandon garage in 1984 with Trevor Peres and Allen West; the name changes to Xecutioner in 1986 to avoid a clash. Tom Morris nearly sends the band home from its Morrisound demo session because he has not heard death metal before, and the demo wins the Roadrunner deal.
