Jon Schaffer's band, formed as Purgatory in 1984, records Night of the Stormrider (1991) and Burnt Offerings (1995) with Tom Morris and The Dark Saga (1996) onward with Jim Morris, who works on every Iced Earth release from then. Richard Christy and Ralph Santolla both pass through it. The band loses its members and its label after Schaffer's role in the events of 6 January 2021.
